A quick primer on the Dubai's neighborhoods to help you book your hotel in Dubai


Deira is the commercial and trading hub of Dubai. Even though new areas are getting developed elsewhere in Dubai, Deira still maintains its old world charm with its two famous Gold Souq and Spice Souq and markets like Naif market and Sabahka market.

Bur Dubai is the historical capital of Dubai, located on the banks of Dubai Creek opposite of Deira. Many historical attractions like Dubai Museum, Bastakiya, etc are in Bur Dubai.

Garhoud is the area where the Dubai International Airport is located. There are 2 airport hotels closeby - Holiday Inn Express Dubai Airport and the Premier Inn Dubai International Airport.

Satwa area runs parallel to the Sheikh Zayed Road. It is a residential area with a sizable Filipino and South Asian population.

Jumeirah is a residential area along the coast of Jumeirah beach. The wealthy local arabs and european expats stay in the villas that are built in a variety of architectural styles.

Sheikh Zayed Road is a part of the highway connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There are many hotels in the area between the World Trade Center Roundabout and the first interchange.

Downtown Dubai is a new development area. It comprises of the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall, Dubai Fountain and number of skyscrapers and hotels. The prominent hotels in this area the Armani Hotel, the Radisson Blu Hotel and The Address Dubai Mall.

Business Bay is a commercial cum residential area under construction. The extended Dubai Creek will run through Business Bay. JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Tower, the tallest hotel in the world is in this area.

Barsha is also one of the areas where new developments are continuously taking place. Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Autodrome are in this area.

Dubai Marina is an area located on the banks of a artificial canal created by bringing in the waters from the Persian Gulf. Jumeirah Beach Residences and Jumeirah Lake Towers are in this area.


Emirates Hill and Arabian Ranches are freehold properties in Dubai, developed by the Emaar group. Residences of many rich and famous are located in this area.

Jebel Ali is at the southern end point of Dubai. Famous for the Jebel Ali Freezone, it is now home to the new Al Makhtoum international airport and the proposed site for the Dubai Expo 2020.
